Investing in the Community.
PLAYING an active role in the local community to help make it a better place to live has been a huge part of Myles Cunliffe’s life for almost a decade.
With a keen interest in both football and cricket, the dad of three was keen to do this bit for the next generation.
Myles said: “I had two young sons who were both keen on football and cricket, so I thought becoming involved in a team was a great way of keeping them and others fit and active.”
With the help of former Burnley FC midfielder Paul Weller, the pair began their coaching journey with Fulledge Colts U8s before setting up their own team, Turf Tigers.
After a successful four years, Myles and Paul switched to Burnley Belvedere where they coached through to U16s level.
Myles said: “We decided to go to Belvedere because it was a big club and as the lads were getting older, the social aspect to it was good for them, too.”
The team enjoyed fantastic success, which saw them win the league and go three years without defeat.
And in addition to the hours of hard work Myles put in to running the teams, his company, Get Me Car Finance, agreed to sponsor the kit and proudly displays its branding on the advertising boards at the Holden Road ground.
When the football season finishes, Myles turns his attentions to cricket. As an 18-year-old, Myles played cricket for Australian side Gordon District Cricket Club, and while out there completed his coaching badges at Sydney Cricket Ground.
Back in the UK, he put these qualifications to good use, coaching sides at both Edgworth and Bradshaw Cricket Clubs.
Myles added: “It’s vital that companies like Get Me Car Finance are involved at grassroots level as it helps give youngsters the opportunity to play team sports.
“Get Me Car Finance has a long association with various sports clubs and is proud to be involved in the local community.
